Probably a welding helmet.

Might pay to put on the gloves too.

As to the original poster, I wear a cap occasionally, because I'm both fashionable and sensible.

So, I have a fashionable and sensible cap.

No. Judgemental prejudiced nonsense to think that.

I am a baldie. Wear hats outside 90% of the time to keep my head warm and keep the sun off.

I guess I have nearly as many hats as Def 'Imelda Marcos' Jam has trainers. Got a few baseball caps, those flat peak New Era types are not my thing though.

Sporting a gamekeeper's flat cap today by George Goddard est 1895 Makers and suppliers of clothing and headwear to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Re: Is the wearing of baseball caps a visible badge of imbecility?
I need a hat. I've been told I'm a fucking tosspot for walking about out here without some sort of head protection.

Actually, the "without some sort of head protection" bit does appear entirely optional, but none-the less, I think some sort of hat is in order.

My problem is, whenever I've worn a hat in the past, every single dog that "knows me" (not in the biblical sense, but if you need a fantasy, feel free), goes ape-shit crazy if I turn up with a hat on. Take it off, all is normal; put it back on again and all hell is let loose.

What's the best dog-don't-bite-me hat to wear?

Probably thinking the same with you and your 28" skinny jeans ....

Oh 100%. My Dad was born in 1928 and grew up in WWII, so what he must have made of me at 13 trying desperately to grow my hair long and look like Fast Eddie Clarke from Motorhead I can only imagine.

In fact I remember one stage when I wasn't allowed to sit on any furniture whilst wearing my black jeans that were rarely taken off or washed.

Fair play really.

Re: Is the wearing of baseball caps a visible badge of imbecility?
Hats indoors a total no-no. I do need a new summer hat actually. My old floppy brimmed thing looks too sad for another year. Not a baseball cap obviously, I'm not 13 or American. Cannot entertain a flat cap because way, way too many nodules jumped on those in last couple of years. Also can't wear anything that would have been worn by an Oasis fan in the 90s. Not sure what to go for...
